All dog owners are encouraged to renew or purchase their 2025 dog licence as soon as possible to keep their pets safe and comply with City regulations to avoid penalties.

With 5,308 licensed dogs in Maple Ridge, Labradors (342) and Lab-crosses (247) remain the most popular breeds. Golden Retrievers (186) and German Shepherds (173) also rank among the top choices, reflecting the community’s preference for friendly, intelligent, and loyal companions. Dog Licensing Requirements and Regulations
- All dogs four months and older must be licensed.
- Licensing helps support essential services, including:
- The return of lost pets
- Adoption programs for homeless pets
- Animal shelter operations
- Public education and enforcement of animal control regulations
How to Apply for or Renew Your Licence
- Online: Renew your dog licence at MapleRidge.ca/Dogs.
- New Licences: Download the application form and email it to Dogs@MapleRidge.ca.
Fees, Discounts and Penalties
Reduced fees are available for spayed/neutered pets with documentation, and seniors qualify for further discounts. Failure to obtain a valid dog licence may result in a fine.
