Rock the Block Celebrates Public Works Week
Celebrate Public Works Week - May 17 to 23
The City of Maple Ridge is inviting the community to get a behind the scenes look at Maple Ridge’s Public Works services – from water to waste, roads to parks. This year Rock the Block comes to the Public Works Operations Yard to help the community Rock the Yard!
Join us on May 23, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
What to Expect
This interactive event highlights public works services from delivering clean water and sewer services to maintaining city roads, sidewalks, streetlights, and parks to more. Including activities:
- Heavy equipment displays and live demonstrations including a backhoe, snowplow, sewer flushing, and street cleaner along with water meter and traffic signal demos
- Interactive exhibits showcasing how City systems operate
- Kids’ activities including a mini construction zone, crafts, games, and hayrides
- Live music, food trucks, giveaways, and photo opportunities
Held during Public Works Week from May 19 to 25, the open house aims to raise awareness about the public works services that residents use every day, such as:
- Clean and safe water when residents turn on the tap water
- Maintaining city infrastructure and fleet
- Helping residents get around safely with street cleaning, sidewalks, streetlights and signage
- Sewer services
- Parks and playgrounds for families to enjoy
This year’s Public Works Week theme is ‘Rooted in Service, Powered by Community’ celebrating the vital services residents rely on every day.
