With a month until the 2026 Local General Election on Saturday, Oct. 17, Maple Ridge residents are encouraged to make plans to vote.
Starting Thursday, Sept. 17, eligible voters can apply for and receive a mail ballot for the 2026 Local General Election. Mail ballot information and applications will be available at MapleRidge.ca/GoVote and at City Hall.
“Election Day is one month away, and voters have several ways to make sure their voice is heard,” said Carolyn Mushata, Director of Legislative Services and Chief Election Officer. “Whether you choose to vote by mail, at an advance voting opportunity or on General Voting Day, we encourage residents to review their options and make a plan to vote.”
Voters will elect one Mayor, six Councillors and five School Trustees for School District No. 42. Those elected will serve a four-year term, from November 2026 to October 2030. A full list of candidates running for office is available at MapleRidge.ca/2026Candidates.
Voters will also be asked to vote on three separate assent vote questions related to proposed long-term borrowing for three Recreation Ready projects.
Vote by Mail starting Sept. 17
Eligible voters can apply for and receive a mail ballot beginning Thursday, Sept. 17. Completed mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer no later than 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, to be counted. Voters are encouraged to apply early and allow enough time for their completed ballot package to be returned. Voters are responsible for return postage or for delivering their completed ballot to an approved drop-off location. Late mail ballots will not be accepted.
Vote in Advance from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on following dates:
- Wednesday, Oct. 7 - Albion Community Centre (24165 104 Ave.) or St. Luke’s Hall (20285 Dewdney Trunk Rd.)
- Saturday, Oct. 10 - Ridge Meadows Seniors Activity Centre (12150 224 St.)
- Wednesday, Oct. 14 - Albion Community Centre or St. Luke’s Hall
- Thursday, Oct. 15 - Albion Community Centre, St. Luke’s Hall or Fraserview Village Hall (22610 116 Ave.)
Vote on General Voting Day – Sat., Oct. 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at:
- Whonnock Elementary School – 27471 112 Ave.
- Garibaldi Secondary School – 24789 Dewdney Trunk Rd.
- Albion Community Centre – 24165 104 Ave.
- Yennadon Elementary School – 23347 128 Ave.
- Ridge Meadows Seniors Activity Centre – 12150 224 St.
- Laity View Elementary School – 21023 123 Ave.
- Hammond Elementary School – 11520 203 St.
- Thomas Haney Secondary School – 23000 116 Ave.
You may vote as a resident elector if you are:
- 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day
- A Canadian citizen
- A resident of British Columbia for at least six months before registering
- A resident of Maple Ridge
- Not disqualified from voting by law
Maple Ridge will use the Provincial List of Voters for the 2026 Local General Election. Those already registered as provincial voters will be on Maple Ridge’s List of Electors. Residents can check their voter registration at elections.bc.ca. Those who are eligible to vote but are not on the list can vote with two pieces of identification that show their name and residential address, such as a B.C. driver’s license or BC Services card. People who live outside Maple Ridge but own property in the city may be eligible to vote as a non-resident property elector.
Assent Vote
Voters will also be asked three assent vote questions about whether they support long-term borrowing for proposed Recreation Ready projects:
- Hammond Aquatics and Recreation Centre
- Hammond Multi-Use Community Park
- Albion Twin-Rink Arena Expansion
Each assent vote question is decided separately and will pass if more than 50 per cent of valid votes cast are Yes.
The City also continues to share non-partisan information through its website, social media channels and a mailout the week of Sept. 28.
