Yellow Air Quality Warning Issued for Maple Ridge

August 5 — @MetroVancouver has issued a yellow air quality warning for Maple Ridge and surrounding areas due to elevated fine particulate matter, also known as PM2.5.

Smoke from wildfires in B.C. is affecting air quality across the region. Conditions can change quickly with weather and fire behaviour.

A yellow warning means there may be moderate, localized or short-term health impacts.

  • Limit outdoor activity and exercise
  • Check on neighbours, friends and family who may be more vulnerable to heat or poor air quality
  • Wear a well-fitted N95, KN95 or KF94 mask as needed
  • Use portable HEPA air cleaners if available
  • Keep windows and doors closed when possible
  • Manage chronic conditions and keep rescue medications with you, such as inhalers
  • Plan ahead and identify air-conditioned or shaded places you can go
