The City of Maple Ridge joins the Province of British Columbia in recognizing Friday, May 2, 2025, as the official Day of Remembrance and Mourning for the victims and all those affected by the recent tragic attack at the Lapu Lapu Day festival in Vancouver on April 26, 2025.
Flags at City facilities will remain at half-mast throughout the weekend in honour of the lives lost and in support of the families, loved ones, and the Filipino Canadian community. Our hearts are with everyone impacted by this heartbreaking incident.
In a show of solidarity and remembrance, lights at City Hall will be illuminated in yellow on Sunday, May 4. That evening, the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Katzie Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) invites the community to come together for a vigil — a time to mourn, reflect, and begin to heal together.
