Maple Ridge, B.C., July 17, 2024, – The City of Maple Ridge, the sixth oldest city in B.C., is inviting the region to celebrate its 150th Anniversary on September 14 at "Our Neck of the Woods," the largest free community festival in the City's history.

The highlight of the celebration will be performances by Juno Award-winning The Strumbellas, Dawn Pemberton, Garet T. Willie, and a special ‘Rooster’s Reunion’ performance with a surprise guest. This event will transform the downtown area into a walkable festival site, featuring live music, food vendors, market stalls, and exciting activities that promise to create lasting family memories.

“This is a big year for our city. Hosting the Maple Ridge BC Summer Games and our Maple Ridge 150 celebrations while honouring the history of Katzie First Nation and Kwantlen First Nation have created a special energy and pride,” said Mayor Ruimy. “We’re throwing a large party and rolling out the red carpet to guests from around the region to join us as we celebrate this incredible milestone. Come to "Our Neck of the Woods" and experience Maple Ridge's bold nature in the heart of our thriving downtown.”

One of the most anticipated activities is the ‘Soar Over Maple Ridge’ zipline, presented by Brimming Development, marking a first for the City.

In addition to the main stage, the celebration will feature:

  • A Family Stage in partnership with Polygon and Morningstar Development
  • A Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association Stage showcasing local and regional acts
  • The Shop Downtown Maple Ridge market
  • Campfire Story Sessions presented by Meadowridge School
  • The Haney Farmers Market and Indigenous Makers Market
  • A ‘Car Free Zone’ on 224 Street in partnership with TransLink
  • A variety of food trucks from across the region
  • Public art display showcasing the work created at the neighbourhood Rock the Block events

Event details are being finalized and other musical acts will be announced at the end of July.

“Make sure that you mark your calendar for Saturday, September 14, as you don’t want to miss out on all the excitement! Invite your friends and family to Our Neck of the Woods. This is an event they will be talking about for years!” said Mayor Ruimy.

To manage the anticipated large crowds, guests are encouraged to take transit, carpool, walk or cycle (Bike Valet service available). The event is conveniently walkable from the Haney Transit loop.
