
Maple Ridge, B.C., November 12, 2024 – The City of Maple Ridge is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Premier John Horgan at age 65 due to his struggle with cancer.
Throughout his distinguished career, Premier Horgan served the people of British Columbia with dedication, compassion, and a strong sense of duty. Premier Horgan was known for uniting efforts in a collaborative manner for the betterment of British Columbians and was admired for his charismatic yet humble and down to earth approach. His leadership and commitment to the province, particularly his focus on addressing the needs of working families and strengthening communities, will leave a legacy.
“Premier Horgan was a true champion for British Columbia, and his contributions to the people of our province will be remembered for years to come,” said Mayor Ruimy. “On behalf of the Council and residents of Maple Ridge, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. His legacy of public service will continue to inspire us all.”
In honour of Premier Horgan’s memory and his profound impact on the province, flags at Maple Ridge City Hall have been lowered to half-mast. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
