Maple Ridge, B.C., November 18, 2024—The City of Maple Ridge is looking for community-driven volunteers to join its Emergency Support Services team and help their neighbours in times of need.

Emergency Support Services (ESS) provide short-term, essential support to individuals and families forced to evacuate their homes due to disasters such as fires, floods, or earthquakes. Volunteers provide temporary lodging, food, clothing, emotional support, and family reunification services, helping residents re-establish themselves as quickly as possible after a disaster.

"Volunteers are the backbone of our emergency readiness program," said Edd Bennett, the City’s Emergency Program Manager.
