Maple Ridge, B.C., Aug. 29, 2025 — As fall weather approaches, bringing the potential for heavy rain, flooding, and power outages, the City of Maple Ridge is encouraging residents to get prepared by taking part in free Be Emergency Ready workshops.
The workshops, offered at both the Albion Community Centre (24165 104 Ave.) and the Maple Ridge Public Library (22470 Dewdney Truck Rd.), provide residents with practical tools and knowledge to keep themselves and their families safe during emergencies.
Participants will learn how to:
- Prepare for flooding and other seasonal hazards
- Build an effective emergency kit
- Create a family emergency plan
“Emergencies can happen anytime. By making the time to be prepared, residents can be ready for whatever the fall season may bring,” said Edd Bennett, the City’s Emergency Program Manager. “These workshops give residents the tools and knowledge they need to be ready when an emergency happens.”
