New Playground Coming Soon
A new playground for Pioneer Park has been chosen based on the feedback from the public engagement. Construction is anticipated to take place over winter 2025/2026.
We are also in the planning stages for a Junior Bike Track around the playground area. The final design of the bike track will be confirmed once the playground is installed.
Please note that the existing playground and their surrounding areas will be closed to the public during construction

Project Description
Pioneer Park was developed in the mid 1980's on land that previously housed Golden Ears Elementary School. The park has an area for Community Gardens, pathways, a large open grass area and a playground and swing set structure that was installed in the late 1990's.
The playground is currently over 25 years of age and is showing signs of wear. This park renovation initiative aims to ensure that the new play structures continue the City’s commitment to provide safe play environments that meet the needs and preferences of local families. The City is proposing to replace the playground including swing set at Pioneer Park as part of the City’s Parks Lifecycle Replacement program.
