Maple Ridge, B.C., Nov. 5, 2026 – The City of Maple Ridge invites residents to come together on Wednesday, November 11 to honour Canada’s veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members and all those who have served in the pursuit of peace and freedom.

The annual Remembrance Day Ceremony, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion, Maple Ridge Branch 88, will be held at Memorial Peace Park. The community is encouraged to wear a poppy, attend the ceremony and take a moment to reflect on the courage, service and sacrifice of those who have served Canada.

The event begins at 10:30 a.m. with a parade through downtown Maple Ridge, ending at the Cenotaph in Memorial Peace Park. The formal ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m., including the traditional moment of silence at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Flags will be lowered at 11:30 a.m.

“Remembrance Day gives us an important opportunity to pause together as a community and recognize the people who have served our country,” said Mayor Jerry Kok. “Their courage and sacrifice have helped protect the freedoms we value today. I encourage residents to join us on November 11 to remember, reflect and show our respect.”

Poppies are available at City facilities, with donations supporting the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Campaign. Following the ceremony, residents are welcome to place their poppies at the Cenotaph.

Road Closures and Parking

Road closures and detours will be in effect from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to support the parade and ceremony. Eastbound closures will begin at 222 Street and Dewdney Trunk Road to accommodate roadwork on 223 Street.

Residents attending are encouraged to walk, carpool or use public transit where possible.

Limited underground parking will be available in the Town Centre lot, with access from Edge Street beside The ACT Arts Centre.

A Year-Round Reminder

In 2025, the City unveiled a commemorative crosswalk in front of the Maple Ridge Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88 at Brown Avenue and 224 Street. Created in collaboration with the Legion, the red crosswalk features a soldier emblem and the words Lest We Forget. It serves as a daily reminder of the lasting legacy of Canada’s veterans and armed forces members.
