High Streamflow Advisory for the Fraser River downstream of Hope

High Streamflow Advisory 

 The BC River Forecast Centre has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for the Fraser River downstream of Hope due to the landslide on the Chilcotin River near Farwell Canyon. 

 Residents and visitors are advised to use caution near rivers, especially with children and pets. 

Large debris flow and sudden rising water levels could result in destabilized riverbanks and strong currents. 

Water flow could increase rapidly while impacts downstream of Hope are expected to be less severe. 

City staff are connected with the Provincial Regional Emergency Operations Centre for updates and are monitoring the water levels closely. 

 What to do: 

  • Do not drive into water. 
  • Stay away from banks, waterways, pools, fast flowing water and low-lying areas. 
  • Obey all road and trail closures. 
  • If you are not in the affected area, avoid it.
