Swimming Lessons

If there is nothing recorded in the system, come to the Leisure Centre during public swim times for a free Lesson Evaluation. Just ask Customer Experience at the front desk and they will connect you with our Aquatics Team! For participants currently enrolled in a lesson set, final outcomes by progress cards are provided at the conclusion of the program. Your instructor will share the final evaluation and outcome on the last day of lessons. Anyone under the age of 8 will need an adult 16 years or older in the water with them during the assessment.

Our traditional swimming lessons change every season, the Aqua Academy will run from October to June with no need to re-register within that time. Aqua Academy is taught with continual evaluation which means the swimmers will be taught where they are not what level they are in. 

To register for Aqua Academy email Swim@MapleRidge.ca at 6 am December 16^th to be added to the registration list. The subject line should be titled "AQAC" then your child’s name. In the email please include the day you are interested in registering for as well as the last level your child took. Registrations are processed in the order received based on the time stamp of the email. Registration requests sent to any other email address than Swim@MapleRidge.ca will not be considered, emails received before the registration opening time of 6 am will also not be considered.

Once your registration is processed, you will receive an email copy of your pre-authorized payment form. When that is signed and returned, you are officially registered into Aqua Academy.

Prior to submitting your registration ensure you have an up-to-date credit card saved on your Xplor account. This can be done online via your registration account or over the phone by calling our registration team at 604-467-7422. Aqua Academy fees are charged monthly, based on the number of sessions per month. Once your registration has been confirmed you will be sent a pre-authorized payment form to be completed prior to the start of the first session. Failure to sign the authorization form will result in de-registration from the program.

Aqua Academy is scheduled with a consistent instructor. There could be occasional substitutions based on extenuating circumstances.

Yes, there will be no lessons during spring break, winter break, and statutory holidays. 

Your instructor will evaluate your child consistently and provide level and skill progression updates. Once they have completed a level they will receive a report card and or badge to mark the completion.

Aqua Academy is designed to achieve continuous skill progression. Levels 1-3 and levels 4-6 are taught in the school age class and all preschool levels are taught allowing participants to progress through those levels at their own pace. Participants are evaluated on an on-going basis. 

Withdrawal requests are processed in alignment with the Refund/Cancellation Policy. Provided notice is given prior to the payment date for the month, you can cancel. Refunds will not be pro-rated once monthly fees are processed.

Aqua Academy runs in alignment with the traditional school year. At the end of the program in June all participants will be evaluated to the appropriate swim level they have achieved. At that time, they can choose to either register into traditional swimming lessons or go through the registration process for Aqua Academy again the following year. Spots are not guaranteed for the next year’s program. 

Withdrawals must be made before the scheduled payment date to be eligible for a refund (e.g., to receive a refund for October lessons, withdrawal must occur before September 1). Non-attendance is not accepted as a request for a refund or deduction in monthly attendance fees. For more details visit our Program Registration page.
