Environment Canada has issued a Yellow Weather Notification for our region.
Strong winds and heavy rain are anticipated for Maple Ridge starting tonight and continuing through the weekend. This is the first in a series of wet and windy weather ahead.
Localized flooding, pooling water, and washouts are possible—please drive carefully. Stay clear of fast-flowing rivers, creeks, and potentially unstable riverbanks.
Take a moment to check that gutters, drains and catch basins around your home or property are cleared to avoid localized flooding.
When you're out in the weather, please remember:
- Allow extra travel time and always drive for conditions
- Rain can reduce visibility—drivers and pedestrians, take extra care and stay alert
- Do not walk, cycle or drive through flooded areas
City crews are monitoring conditions and actively preparing for the weather by street sweeping to clear storm drains, inspecting city drainage systems, culverts and other infrastructure.
