Let's Show Up Maple Ridge! Help make this our strongest voter turnout yet!

Maple Ridge, B.C., Oct. 9, 2026 — With just over a week until General Voting Day, Maple Ridge residents are encouraged to make a plan to vote and help increase voter turnout in the 2026 Local General Election.

Every ballot is an opportunity for residents to have a say in the decisions that will shape the community over the next four years by choosing a Mayor, six Councillors and five School Trustees and voting on three assent questions on the proposed long-term borrowing for Recreation Ready projects.

The election has had a strong start with 1,458 people voting on the first day of advance voting on Oct. 7 and an increase in requests for mail ballots. By comparison, 1,002 voters cast ballots across the first two advance voting days in the 2022 election. In the 2022 municipal election, 14,491 ballots were cast, representing voter turnout of approximately 21.87 per cent. This was lower than turnout in 2018, when approximately 33.5 per cent of eligible voters participated.

“Local elections are where residents can have a direct say in the decisions that affect their daily lives and the future of Maple Ridge,” said Carolyn Mushata, Director of Legislative Services and Chief Election Officer. “We are encouraged by the early turnout and hope more residents will take advantage of the remaining opportunities to vote.”

Residents can vote during advance voting on October 10, 14 and 15, or on General Voting Day, Saturday, October 17. Eligible voters may also vote by mail, provided their completed ballot is received by the Chief Election Officer no later than 8:00 p.m. on October 17.
