See You At The Park - Artist Statement

Memorial Peace Park is a place to gather. Our crosswalk design See You At The Park reflects the exuberance of the festivals, markets and concerts that take place in the park year-round.

As you walk to the park from the South, you will hear children's songs and games from the daycare. When you round the corner, you suddenly find yourself in the middle of the high energy of people going in and out of the Leisure Centre. In the crosswalk, big, cheerful Spring colours mirror that energy. The pinks of flowers and rhododendron flowers in the park are at the center of the design.

If you need to get some chores done, you might enter the park from the North. The crosswalk there starts with the same cool green of the tower glass, creating an evening version of the pattern.  Both crosswalks reflect the joyful feeling and movement of the foot traffic on festival days.
