The City announced on September 18, 2020 that the ice sheet’s pipe networks at Planet Ice Maple Ridge must undergo emergency lifecycle repairs. Skating lessons, public skating and ice sports will be unavailable until repairs are complete. The current estimate for completion of this project is January 2021, meaning that ice activities will not be included in the Maple Ridge Parks, Recreation & Culture Fall Program Guide

The two ice sheets at Planet Ice require both a new condenser and repairs to the brine pipes under the concrete between the playing surfaces. The new condenser is expected to take approximately 10 to 12 weeks to be manufactured and delivered. This time will be used to do the required repairs to the pipe network that chills the ice surfaces.

The City is eager to welcome you back as soon as possible to the improved facility and recognizes the impact this temporary closure has on our ice user community. This page will be updated throughout the project.
