Maple Ridge, B.C., Oct. 16, 2026 — Maple Ridge residents have one final opportunity to vote in the 2026 Local General Election on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Unofficial results will be available after voting places close at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 17. Residents can follow results online at MapleRidge.ca/ElectionResults or watch them come in live at City Hall in Council Chambers located at 11995 Haney Place.
Results for Mayor, Councillors, School Trustees and the assent vote questions will be posted as ballots from advance voting, mail-in ballots and General Voting Day voting places are tabulated and verified by the Chief Election Officer. Results will be updated throughout the evening.
How Votes Are Counted
Election officials verify each voter’s identity and eligibility using the Provincial List of Voters. Residents who are not already registered can register when they vote by providing two pieces of identification that show their name and residential address.
Once verified, voters receive a paper ballot after signing a declaration confirming they are eligible to vote and have not previously voted in the election. After marking their choices in a private voting booth, voters feed their ballot into an electronic tabulator to ensure the process is secure. View the video explaining how votes are counted here.
The tabulator scans the ballot, records the vote and securely stores the paper ballot. After voting closes on Oct. 17, results from voting places, mail ballots and special voting opportunities are counted and verified before unofficial results are released.
All results shared on election night are unofficial. Official results will be declared by the Chief Election Officer at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026. Once results are declared, the period for applications for judicial recounts and election challenges begins.
General Voting Day is an opportunity for residents to help shape the future of Maple Ridge by electing a Mayor, six Councillors and five School Trustees. Voters will also be asked to vote on three assent questions related to proposed long-term borrowing for Recreation Ready projects.
Voter Turnout
The election has seen strong early interest in advance voting and mail-in ballots. A total of 7509 number people voted during advance voting on October 7, 10, 14 and 15 — an 86 per cent increase over the 4045 who voted during six advance voting dates in the 2022 municipal election.
In 2022, 14,491 ballots were cast overall, representing voter turnout of approximately 21.87 per cent. Voter turnout in 2018 was approximately 33.5 per cent.
