
The Public Works-Operations team focuses on resident health and safety, while protecting the large investment in public works, underground infrastructure, and the environment.
During a freshet and other weather-related events, sandbags/sand is provided at various locations in the city, including at the Operations Centre. Stay connected with the City on social media for these updates as they occur.
Due to heavy machinery operating 24/7 in the yard, this office is not open to the public. Should you have a booked appointment, you may gain access to the yard by calling 604-463-9581 from 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday (closed on statutory holidays). It is requested that you come up to the Administrative Offices on the second floor and sign in, prior to your appointment. High visibility vests must be worn if walking through the yard and can be loaned to you during your visit.
Please note that this facility is an active work zone and as such, the speed limit in the yard is a maximum of 20 km/h. Machinery, equipment and City vehicles have the right of way at all times. The yard may be accessed through the gate in front of 23925 Dewdney Trunk Road, and in the 12000 Block of 240 Street via calling in to the office to introduce yourself. It is requested that you do not follow City vehicles in through open gates without calling the office first.
The Public Works/Operations Centre office deals with all maintenance issues for existing City infrastructure which includes:
- Repairs and litter on roads, sidewalks, and signage
- Streetlights (metal pole bases), traffic lights, maintenance on the fleet of City vehicles
- Storm water management, water distribution, sewage collection, and snow and ice control
