City Pays Tribute to Deputy CAO Stephane Labonne

Maple Ridge, B.C., April 16, 2026 – Council and staff at the City of Maple Ridge are mourning the loss of Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Stephane Labonne, who passed away on Tuesday, April 8, following a lengthy illness.

A highly respected colleague and dedicated public servant, Stephane had a strong work ethic and deep commitment to local government.

Prior to joining the City of Maple Ridge in 2022, he held senior positions with several municipalities in Alberta, bringing a wealth of experience and leadership to his role.

During his time with the City—first as General Manager of Parks, Recreation and Culture and then Deputy Chief Administrative Officer—Stephane was a driving force behind many of the City’s major initiatives. His leadership and contributions have left a lasting impact on the community.

A celebration of life will take place in Edmonton on May 8. Messages can be left on a dedicated online memorial page.
