Thanks for following the City of Maple Ridge. By engaging with our social media channels you are agreeing to our Social Media Terms of Use. These terms are in place to ensure the respectful exchange of ideas, and that all users are treated with courtesy, kindness and respect on all our social media channels. Your comments are welcome in this space where our community can engage in respectful dialogue, ask questions, debate, and provide constructive comments and ideas.

Rules of Conduct

People engaging on our social media channels should be able to express their opinions, gather insight, and participate in productive discussions. While commenting and participating in these discussions your posts/comments must stay on topic, and not cause intimidation or offence.

The City reserves the right to hide or remove any posts/comments that:

  • are off-topic, or not relevant;
  • contain profane language or inappropriate emojis, gifs or other content;
  • violates the City of Maple Ridge Respectful Workplace Policy No. 30.11 or the British Columbia Human Rights Code;
  • contain sexual content or links to sexual content;
  • are repetitive posts copied and pasted or duplicated by users (spam);
  • suggest/encourage illegal activity or violate copyrights, trademarks, or legal ownership of any party;
  • contain information that violates a person’s privacy, or may compromise the safety of the public or public systems;
  • are deemed violent, discriminatory, offensive, intimidating or harassing in tone or language;
  • threaten or defame any person or organization
  • violates our Public Hearing rules or other official consultations that are part of defined legislative processes;
  • cannot be attributed to an individual, where the identity of the person writing the post is obscured or unclear;
  • promote or oppose any person campaigning for election to political office;
  • are solicitations of commerce, advertising, or promotions for products/services unrelated to the work of the City or partner organizations;
  • link to third party sites with anything other than credible news or research sources; or
  • breach the terms of service of social media platform

By posting on the City's social media channels, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions. Our social media Rules of Conduct are subject to change at any time.

Breach of Conduct

We reserve the right to block users who repeatedly violate our Rules of Conduct from further activity on our social media channels.
