New Neighbourhood Park at Pazarena Place Now Open

Maple Ridge, B.C., July 24, 2025 - The City’s newest neighbourhood park at Pazarena Place is now open, offering families in south Haney a vibrant new space to play, gather and enjoy.

“This park is a great addition to the neighbourhood and reflects the input received from residents,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “It’s wonderful to see families enjoying the space as soon as the fences came down this morning and the park come to life with kids playing, families relaxing, and neighbours connecting. It’s part of our commitment to building a more liveable community and investing in the spaces that matter as our city grows.”

Park Highlights

The park’s design reflects community feedback gathered during two phases of public engagement in 2023, offering a mix of active play areas, quiet seating spaces, and accessible pathways that weave through natural plantings, a wildflower meadow and rain gardens.

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of play and park features, including:

  • Two hill slides
  • 4-bay swing set with belt swings, toddler swing, and accessible swing
  • Songbird play hut
  • Disc swing
  • Interactive play panels
  • Water play table and runnel
  • Sand play area
  • Scooter track
  • Picnic shelter and open lawn areas

Next Steps

While most park features are open, visitors will notice that one of the play structures for ages 5-12 has been removed as we’re waiting on components to be modified to meet Canadian playground safety standards before it’s reinstalled later this year. The City thanks residents for their patience while this work is being undertaken.

An official opening event will be held once the playground is fully completed.

While open to everyone, this neighbourhood park is intended to serve residents within a five-minute walk or approximately 400-500 metres radius.

The project is funded from the City’s 2024-2025 Capital Plan with funding support from the Tire Stewardship Council of BC for the park’s poured-in-place rubber playground surfacing.
