Weather Update

  • Another Atmospheric River event will skirt our region, bringing heavy rain through Saturday morning.
  • 30 - 50mm of precipitation is likely with high rainfall rates of up to 10mm per hour at times.

River Update

  • A moderate flood hazard exists for the entire south coast over the next 72 hours.   localized flooding, washouts, and hazardous driving conditions are possible.
  • An increase in freezing levels accompanying the storm may bolster runoff with rain-on-snow adding to streamflow's.

City crews are:

  • Inspecting, clearing and preparing city infrastructure like drainage systems, culverts and pump stations,

  • Monitoring conditions closely and will be ready to respond as needed. Sandbags will be made available for residents in flood-prone areas if the risk for flooding increases. Locations will be shared if they are deployed.

Residents are advised to:

  • Clear leaves from catch basins & drains near your home to reduce localized flooding

  • Drive carefully and give yourself extra travel time/distance

  • Stay clear of fast-flowing rivers, creeks & unstable banks – keep kids & pets close

  • Report blocked drains or debris. MapleRidge.ca/Report | 604-463-9581
