MAPLE RIDGE, B.C., March 13, 2025 – The City of Maple Ridge is inviting the community to provide feedback on concept designs for new picnic shelters, washroom facilities, and parking lot improvements as part of the next phase of the Maple Ridge Park improvement project.

Project Highlights

Maple Ridge Park, one of the city’s most beloved parks, will see more enhancements through this next phase designed to improve accessibility and functionality, including:

  • Upgraded picnic shelters to support family gatherings and community use
  • New washroom facilities to replace aging infrastructure
  • Parking lot improvements to enhance accessibility and parking capacity

Last year the City opened a new playground at the park and a new spray park is currently under construction and scheduled to open this summer.

Community Engagement

The community is encouraged to participate in the engagement process by reviewing the concept designs and sharing their feedback through an online survey available until April 6. Additionally, residents can attend an open house where City staff will be available to discuss the plans and answer questions.

Project Timeline and Impacts

  • Current Phase: Concept Design and Community Engagement
  • Construction Start: Fall / Winter 2025
  • Anticipated Completion: Summer 2026

While construction is underway, efforts will be made to minimize disruptions:

  • Existing washroom facilities will remain open during construction.
  • Picnic shelters may be unavailable during construction; uncovered tables will remain open.
  • Playground and spray park areas will remain open.
  • Parking lot construction will be scheduled in phases, with advance public notifications.

Throughout the process, the City remains committed to protecting the park’s mature trees and natural environment.

The project is part of the City’s 2025 Capital Plan.
