Environment Canada has issued a Rainfall Warning for Metro Vancouver, including Maple Ridge.
River Conditions - Run-off from rainfall is expected to lead to high streamflow's through to the weekend. Significant flooding is not anticipated, however localized flooding, rising river levels, washouts and hazardous driving conditions are possible. Please monitor the BC River Forecast centre for high streamflow advisories and flood warnings.
What to Expect:
- 40-60 mm of rain by Thursday evening
- Rainfall is expected to be heavy at times through today and into Thursday
- Water pooling and minor flooding possible on roads and in low-lying areas
City Crews Are Getting Ready:
- Clearing drains and inspecting pump stations
- Monitoring river levels and drainage systems
- Preparing sandbags for residents in flood-prone areas (locations will be shared if deployed)
How You Can Help:
- Clear leaves and debris from drains near your home so water can move freely
- Secure outdoor items and prepare for wet, windy weather
- Drive with care and give yourself extra travel time and distance
- Stay back from fast-moving creeks, rivers, and unstable banks — keep kids and pets close
