Skating
Spend some time on the ice with us at Planet Ice - Maple Ridge (23588 Jim Robson Way)! Planet Ice Maple Ridge is a two rink facility that opened in 1998. It is home to Cam Neely Arena which has seating for 1200 spectators. The second rink has seating for 125. Both ice rinks are standard NHL size, 85 by 200 feet. Planet Ice operates in partnership with the City of Maple Ridge.

Skating Lessons at Planet Ice
Check the Maple Ridge Parks, Recreation & Culture Program Guide for lesson descriptions and schedules.
- Skating lessons are offered at Planet Ice from October to March.
- Review the skills required for each level and register in the class appropriate for the participant.
- Participants must successfully complete the skills for each level and receive a report card before registering for the next level.
- Skate lessons do not include skate or helmet rentals. If you require skates or helmets during lessons, you can rent them from Planet Ice.
Helmet Regulations
Know your limit, skate within it! We recommend and encourage all ages to model safety. All lesson participants including adults in Parent and Tot and Adult lessons must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet during skating lesson ice times. No bike helmets will be allowed on the ice during lessons.

Activity Descriptions
Parent & Tot Skate
A skate for parents/guardians with children 6 years & under. Some toys, skating aids and other interactive equipment will be on the ice. All children must wear a helmet during this session. Strollers with clean wheels are welcome. No preschool ride-on or bike type toys allowed on the ice. Please check with on-ice staff for approval to bring your own toys/aids on the ice as not all items are permitted.
Public Skate
Everyone is welcome to this general lap skating session. The ice patrol staff will change the direction of skating throughout the session and may ‘cone-off’ the far end of the rink for slower skaters. No skating backwards or figure skating tricks permitted. Sunday is a family skate with one end of the ice sectioned off for slower skaters.

Everyone is welcome to this discounted leisure Public Skate. Join us for $2 per skater on statutory holidays!
