Snow Removal

When snowfall is in the forecast, preparation and planning are important in keeping everyone safe and minimizing impacts on you and your family.

The City monitors road and weather conditions throughout the winter. When snow and icy conditions are forecast, crews and equipment are dispatched to clear roads on a priority basis. We appreciate your patience during snow events, as municipal crews work to keep City streets clear and safe.

Here's some important information on the City's extreme weather response and your responsibilities when the snow flies.

Priority Routes

Maple Ridge has been divided into seven zones called routes. Heavy equipment, plows and salting trucks are dispatched into these zones as the snow begins to fall (and before snowfalls to salt the road) to keep the main arterial roads as clear as possible. Priority roads are marked with a 'gold' line on the route maps listed below:

Route 1 - 272 Street, 280 Street, south of Dewdney Trunk Road

Route 2 - 240 Street, 268 Street, south of Dewdney Trunk Road

Route 3 - Dewdney Trunk Road, south from 222 Street and the Haney Bypass to 240 Street  and River Road

Route 4 - Pitt Meadows Border and Dewdney Trunk Road, south from Maple Meadows Way to River Road and 222 Street

Route 5 - Pitt Meadows Border and Dewdney Trunk Road, north to 138 Ave/Foreman Drive and 132 Ave and Fern Crescent

Route 6 - Rock Ridge and Silver Valley Neighbourhoods, Foreman Drive and 132 Avenue and Fern Crescent

Route 7  - 248 Street/Alouette Road to 287 Street, north of Dewdney Trunk Road

The Snow Plow Tracker

The City has developed a Snow Plow Tracker map that uses data from the transponders on our snow clearing fleet. The data will be live during a snow event and is updated as the vehicles move throughout the community, so the location may be approximate. As noted, the full fleet is dispatched as the snowfall warrants, and vehicles move to and from the City's Public Works-Operations centre to replenish fuel, salt, sand and brine, depending on the conditions and intensity of the weather event.
