The City of Maple Ridge is planning to improve pedestrian and cycling facilities on 117 Avenue from 207 Street to Laity Street and Laity Street from 117 Avenue to Lougheed Highway by providing a 3.0m multi-use path (MUP). The MUP will create a safe and inviting pedestrian and cycling facility on 117 Avenue and Laity Street. The scope of work includes the design and construction of the asphalt MUP, streetlighting and curb extensions. The pathway is to be located on the south side of 117 Avenue and on the east side of Laity Street which will connect to the existing MUP on Lougheed Highway.
Aplin & Martin Consultants Ltd. was awarded the contract for the detailed design and construction is anticipated to commence in 2021.
An Open House was held on January 23, 2020 at Maple Ridge Municipal Hall. A project update letter was sent to area residents on July 27, 2020, along with the Design Drawing. As the multi-use path will be constructed on the south side, these properties were sent a property-specific letter.
