Alert Maple Ridge
Alert Maple Ridge powered by Voyent Alert, is the City’s one stop shop for City alerts. Residents are encouraged to sign up to receive alerts related to emergencies like wildfires, floods, storms and other hazards in the community. Effective July 17, you can also receive notifications related to facility and program/service impacts such as pool closures, road work and traffic impacts.

During an emergency event, it is important to get information that is trusted, accurate and timely. If you need to shelter in place or evacuate, these notifications will give you the info you need to keep yourself and your family safe.
Registration is FREE, simple and anonymous. You can choose how you would like to receive alerts, either through a mobile app, email or text message.
What Can You Expect - A One-stop Shop for City Alerts
Personalized Communications
Get critical information such as the distance and direction from an incident, and preferred evacuation routes from your followed locations may be provided.
Follow Multiple Locations
Create and follow multiple locations such as “Kids School” or “Mom’s House”. Any event or communication related to your followed locations will be forwarded to you along your preferred communication channel.
Communications Your Way
Receive alerts over a wide variety of communication channels including mobile apps, text/SMS alerting, email or voice dial. You can register for one or more communication channels.
Choose Your Topics
Select day-to-day alert topics such as City Hall, general service impacts, Greg Moore Youth Centre, Hammond Outdoor Pool, Maple Ridge Leisure Centre, online service impacts, parks and spray parks, road work traffic and closures, and sport fields.
No Message Fatigue
Only get notified when a communication is relevant to your or one of the locations you are following.
SERVICE CHANGE - New Alert Centre Effective July 17
Alert Maple Ridge replaces the Notify Me subscription service – which will be phased out effective July 28 as part of the City website redesign. Day-to-day service alerts such as pool closures or road closures will only be shared on social media if there are significant impacts to services or road closures.
- What is Alert Maple Ridge?

Alert Maple Ridge is the City’s new system for issuing timely notices via your preferred method (text, email and/or phone call) about emergency events as well as service and facility impacts. It is powered by Voyent Alert, a multi-purpose communication service and alerting app that manages rapid dissemination of targeted information with enriched and personalized alerts for both critical emergencies and day-to-day notifications.
By default, all registrants will receive emergency event alerts (like wildfires, floods, storms and other safety hazards). For service and facility impacts (like road closures, field updates and pool closures), users will choose their own topics and locations of interest.

- When are alerts issued?

By default, all registrants will receive emergency event alerts, issued by staff, as soon as possible. You will also receive day-to-day alerts, such as road closures and facility updates, according to the locations, facilities and topics of your choosing. You can manage these options within your account under the “My Topics” menu.
- Will I receive a lot of unwanted alerts?

No. By default, all registrants will receive emergency event alerts, issued by our emergency service teams. The other notifications you receive are dictated by your personal preferences. You can manage these options within your account under the “My Topics” menu.
- Does Alert Maple Ridge collect personal information?

The only information required to register is a postal code or address (which do not need to be verified as your home address) and a phone number or email address (which will need to be verified to ensure you receive notifications/alerts). No other personal information is required. Please see the Privacy & Legal information provided by Voyent Alert! for more details.
- Can I use my home phone number or is this only for mobile phones?

If you use a home phone number, only emergency alerts will be sent as an automated voice message. Using a mobile phone number is recommended so that you can receive alerts/notifications via text.
- Is training required to use this service?

No, Alert Maple Ridge is very simple to use! When you first register, helpful hints are included to guide you in setting up your account. Additional support can be found on the Voyent Alert! Frequently Asked Questions page (www.voyent-alert.com/ca/community) where you can submit a question directly. You can also contact the City’s communication department at communications@mapleridge.ca.
- Who issues the alerts?

Emergency alerts will be issued by the City’s Emergency Operations Centre with support from Corporate Communications. Non-emergency alerts will be issued by the department responsible for the work.
- I live outside Maple Ridge but would still like to receive alerts. Can I still register?

Yes, if you are outside of the City, you can still register to receive alerts. Simply enter Maple Ridge or a Maple Ridge address/postal code on the registration page to get started. Once registered, you can either move your “home” pin or create a new one for other locations of interest. You will also have the option of selecting from a list of topics.
- Can I decide what type of alerts I receive?

- Will the alerts be broadcasted on my phone, even if it is on “silent mode”?

In the event of a critical alert where the public must be alerted immediately, the alerting sound will override your phone settings. For all other notifications, you will be notified via your chosen preference(s), such as text or email, and your phone settings will not be affected.
- Do I have to be in Maple Ridge to receive an alert?

No. Provided you are connected to a mobile service or can access your email, the alerts will get to you wherever you are, even if you are outside of Maple Ridge.
- Can I register my children or parents?

Yes. Provided they have access to email or a phone, you can assist them with registering for Alert Maple Ridge. Visit www.mapleridge.ca/alert for more details.
- How do I confirm my registration?

To confirm your registration, log-in to your account. When you log-in, you will be sent a new 4-Digit Verification Code to your device via text or email (dependent on your selection). Use this code to confirm your registration.
- How do I unsubscribe from Alert Maple Ridge?

If you wish to unsubscribe from the system entirely, log-in on www.mapleridge.ca/alert or open your application then select the "My Profile" option from the menu selector at the top of the page. Click on the "Unsubscribe" button.
- Is this the same as Alert Ready?

No. Alert Ready is a Canada-wide system that allows government officials in each province and territory to issue emergency alerts through compatible wireless devices and major television and radio broadcasters.
Alert Ready will broadcast without a subscription and at no cost to ensure the maximum number of people receive alerts. In British Columbia, Alert Ready will only be used in the event of a potential tsunami, Amber Alert, flooding, wildfire or civil emergency. Learn more about Alert Ready.
