Onyeka Dozie

Councillor Onyeka Dozie brings his academic and business experience to his role as Councillor for the City of Maple Ridge. Councillor Dozie holds a B.Sc. in Estate Management (Urban Land Economics) and a M.Sc. in Construction Management from the Universities of Ife and Lagos, Nigeria respectively. He is also a certified Real Property Administrator (RPA) and Project Management Professional (PMP).

Councillor Dozie’s family connections are an important part of who he is as a person as evidenced by his inclusion of his wife Linda in the inaugural ceremony. They have been married for 28 years and are blessed with three beautiful offspring.

Councillor Dozie is passionate about community service. His volunteer resume includes time as a coach for youth soccer, he has served as president of the Port Coquitlam Businesses Improvement Association, served on the Port Coquitlam Economic Council, is a Patron of Anambra united friends Association and was a charter member of the Port Coquitlam Centennial Rotary Club.

Councillor Dozie came to Canada from Nigeria in 2001, leaving a flourishing career, friendships and family members to secure a new future for his wife and children. He moved to Maple Ridge in 2007 and his family are putting down deep roots in his new home.

During the election campaign Councillor Dozie shared his passion for youth education, affordable housing, infrastructure and support for entrepreneurs in the community. These were the things that motivated him to seek a Council position. Councillor Dozie was sworn in on November 1, 2022 and has pledged his commitment to working with all of his Council colleagues to shape a strong future for Maple Ridge.
