City Fire Crews responded to a large fire between Brown Avenue and Edge Street last night. The fire is under control and crews remain on scene to extinguish the fire.
The City’s Emergency Social Services team is working to ensure that residents impacted by the fire have their short-term needs for food and shelter met.
Residents that have been displaced by the fire are advised to go to the Reception Centre located at the Greg Moore Youth Centre (11925 Haney Place) to register with Emergency Social Services.
Residents living in nearby buildings experiencing smoke are advised to keep windows and doors closed. If you suffer from respiratory issues, you are encouraged to find alternative accommodation or report to the Reception Centre until the fire is addressed.
The following roads remain closed until further notice. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes.
• Brown Ave closed between Edge & 227 St.
• 121 Ave closed between Edge & 227 St.
• Edge closed between 121 Ave & Brown Ave
