March 2025

March 25 

Committee of the Whole – 11:00 am in Council Chambers 

Council will hear reports on the following matters from staff 

  • Online Application Portal and Streamlined Permit Process 
    Update on the Development Services Optimization project and new online application portal which aims to modernize technology, processes, policies, and bylaws to expedite building and development permit approvals. Will be forward to Council meeting on April 8. 

  • Development Concierge Pilot Program 
    Overview of a concierge pilot program and its implementation to facilitate strategic development projects. Report will be forwarded to Council April 8 to approve launch. 

  • Rezoning for 152-Unit Low-Rise Apartment Development 
    Council will consider a rezoning application at 12209, 12219, 12241, 12251 - 222 Street and 22190 - 123 Avenue for development of two 6-storey apartment buildings with 152 strata units. Second reading of Bylaw/OCP amendments and Public Hearing will be forwarded to March 25 Council for further discussion/approval. 

  • Short-Term Rental Implementation 
    Three new bylaws are being introduced to regulate short-term rentals, ensuring compliance with zoning, parking, and business licensing requirements and will be forwarded to March 25 Council meeting for further discussion. 

  • Serving Officer Designation Bylaw 
    Report to be forwarded to March 25 Council meeting for Council to give three readings to new bylaw designating Servicing Officers to align with recent provincial legislation under Bill 16. 

  • Recreation Services Fees & Charges Update 
    An update on adjustments to recreation service fees for 2025 to ensure cost alignment and service sustainability. Report will be forwarded to April 8 Council meeting. 

Regular Council Meeting at 7:00 pm 

Council will consider the following matters: 

  • 24340 & 24360 102 Ave – Second reading of bylaw amendments and approve public hearing for rezoning application for five-lot subdivision 

 

March 11 

Council Workshop – 11:00 am in Council Chambers 

Council will hear reports on the following matters 

  • 2025 City Events – to engage Council on hosting a City lead event for 2025 
  • Climate Action Plan Update – Progress update on the development of the Maple Ridge Climate Action Plan 
Public Hearing – 7:00 pm in Council Chambers 

Council will hear public feedback on the following matters: 

  • Rezoning of  24340 and 24360 102 Avenue to permit a future subdivision of five lots 
  • Rezoning of 20235, 20247 and 20265 Patterson Avenue to allow for the future development of 28 townhouse units

Presentations 

  • Maple Ridge Secondary - Ramblers Wrestling Team - Provincial Champions 

Council will consider the following items and staff recommendations: 

  • Adoption of Bylaw Amendments and Issuance of Development Variance Permit and Multi-Family Development Permit for 22936, 22944, 22952, 22964, and 22974 Dewdney Trunk Road to allow a 6-storey, 178-unit apartment building. Variances include setbacks, height, private outdoor amenity areas, and off-street parking. 
  • Land Use Review Cliff Ave, Selkirk Ave, and 119 Ave - OCP Bylaw Amendment be forwarded to Public Hearing and staff report back on proposed land use changes 
  • Tenant Protection Bylaw - Staff be directed to prepare a draft bylaw to advance housing affordability.  
  • Police Services and General Administration Fees for 2025 Update 
  • Continuous Improvement Centre of Excellence Update 
  • Net Promoter Score/Customer Satisfaction Survey Analysis Update 
  • Seasonal Curbside Patio Program – 2024 Season Review and 2025 Refinements

Here’s the agenda highlights for Council’s Tuesday meeting.

Committee of the Whole at 11:00 am in Council Chambers

Council will start the meeting with a presentation by Superintendent Adam Gander, Officer-in-Charge, Ridge Meadows RCMP.

Council will then hear reports and recommendations on the following matters:

  • Variance and Multi-Family Development Permit at 22936, 22944, 22952, 22964, and 22974 Dewdney Trunk Road to permit the construction of a 6-storey residential apartment building with 178 dwelling units with variances.
  • Engagement results and next steps for the Cliff Avenue, Selkirk Avenue, and 119 Avenue land Use Review.
  • Tenant Projections: Applicability of Proposed Tenant Protection Bylaw.
  • Police Services and General Administration Fees for 2025.
  • Continuous Improvement Centre of Excellence Update.
  • Net Promoter Score/Customer Satisfaction Survey Analysis Update.
