Brush Chipping

Doing some yard work and looking to get rid of loose tree and shrub branches? Our Brush Chipping program can help.

In partnership with the City of Maple Ridge, Ridge Meadows Recycling Society administers the Brush Chipping Program for Maple Ridge residents.

No pre-booking is necessary and there will be no specific day or time for pickup. Place branches at the roadside adjacent to your property by the set-out deadline for your area.

Chipping in each area may take up to two weeks to complete. The number of days spent on each area depends on the amount of brush set out and the number of residents using the program.

Set-Out Deadlines

Material Criteria

The program includes pick up and disposal of tree and shrub branches up to a total volume of 3 cubic meters (1 meter x 1 meter x 3 meters, roughly 3 feet x 3 feet x 9 feet – chippers are instructed to spend no more than 20 minutes at each household). Branches may be up to 6 inches in diameter. No construction waste, building materials, stumps, leaves, branches with thorns (e.g., rose bushes, blackberries, holly), vines (including willow branches), bamboo, root balls, grasses or household waste will be permitted.

Please Note

Items placed at the curb not covered by the program or excess volume of material will not be picked up. The purpose of this program is to provide an alternative to burning this material.

No Late Set-Outs or Oversized Piles Will Be Accepted

If you have more volume, there is a green waste area at the Metro Vancouver's Maple Ridge Recycling Waste Centre for Garbage, Green Waste, Mattress & Gypsum (Drywall) Drop-off, located next to the Recycling Depot at 10092 236 Street, Maple Ridge. Green waste tipping fees will apply.

In an effort to stay on schedule and in fairness to the majority of participants, no late set-outs or over-sized piles will be accepted. For more information, visit or phone Ridge Meadows Recycling at 604-463-5545.

Street Trees

The street trees are the responsibility of the Parks & Facilities department and any pruning required will be addressed by City staff. For maintenance of City trees please contact the Parks department at 604-467-7346.

Please be careful when pruning trees on your property, not to top trees. Residents are reminded that topping of trees is not permitted under the City's Tree Protection and Management Bylaw, due to tree health and safety concerns.

Thank you for your cooperation.
