Maple Ridge, B.C., June 10, 2024 – On Saturday, June 15, the Rock the Block celebration will pull up to Blaney Hamlet Park in Silver Valley for an evening of FREE family fun for the neighbourhood.

“We had an amazing kickoff in May at Tsuyuki Park in the Albion Neighbourhood, and we are excited to bring the music, activities, food trucks and fun to Silver Valley,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “Grab your neighbours and come on down for an incredible evening where we can all celebrate community and create strong neighbourhood connections.”

The event runs from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Blaney Hamlet Park, 13712 230A Street in Maple Ridge’s Silver Valley neighbourhood.

Paint the Maple Ridge 150 Mural

Residents are invited to use their artistic skills to help paint the second neighbourhood mural with artist Carly Bouman. The Mural program started with the celebration at Tsuyuki Park. After Blaney Hamlet, the next “Post Card” mural will be painted on Canada Day at Memorial Peace Park on July 1, and the fourth mural will be created at the final Rock the Block event at Hammond Park on August 10.

All four murals will be completed and displayed on Saturday, September 14, at the ‘Our Neck of the Woods’ community celebration event in downtown Maple Ridge.

“These murals will be a remarkable creative legacy from the Maple Ridge 150 celebrations,” said Russ Brummer, the City’s Arts, Culture and Events Manager. “We’re hoping to have thousands of citizens be part of these paintings that capture the beauty of our community.”

Due to limited parking, residents are encouraged to walk, stroll or bike from their homes, bring a blanket and have a picnic while enjoying the music and activities. This event will run ‘rain or shine.’
