Remembrance Day
Friday, November 11, 2022
On November 11, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #88 will return to Memorial Peace Park for the Remembrance Day Ceremony. Citizens will gather to honour the service of men and women, past and present, in the defense of our nation.
On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we gather to pay our respects to those who have fallen, to those who served, and to those who are serving with our armed forces. It is a very special tradition in our community.
The ceremony begins at 10:30 am with a parade into the downtown and ending at the cenotaph. After the parade, the national anthem is sung and the official ceremony begins at 11:00 am. The ceremony includes reading the names of soldiers from the community who have died in wars, the Laying of the Wreaths (from organizations or individuals in the communities), a blessing, a reading of the poem called “In Flander’s Fields”, and the playing of the Last Post.
