No, you do not have to use your membership to pay for your Gymnasium timeslot.
As of March 17, all Maple Ridge Leisure Centre memberships were frozen due to COVID-19. Membership pass holders have the option to unfreeze or continue to freeze their account. Members can choose what registration method works best for them – either pay-as-you-go or using their membership. Be aware that if you have chosen to unfreeze your account, you cannot refreeze it.
To ensure the safety of patrons, staff and our community registration for the gymnasium is mandatory. Registration allows us to track who is in our building and when and to ensure maximum participation numbers are monitored. Controlling the access to a building/facility is a recommendation of the Provincial Health Officer and Worksafe BC.
Please come prepared to use the gymnasium. We ask that you bring minimal items with you and your own equipment for the designated timeslot. There will be no access to lockers or cubbies. If you need to bring a bag, keep it small.
Customers should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to their registered Gymnasium timeslot. Please wait on the designated physical distancing markers outside of the main entrance doors. A staff will welcome you into the facility at your designated time. As you enter the facility you will be reminded to sanitize and wash your hands frequently.
Parks, Recreation & Culture staff are following the viaSport Activity Chart and gradually implementing gymnasium activities/sports that have completed the Return to Sport Guidelines. The Activity Chart outlines what types of activities that can be considered for facilities as we transition through the various return stages.
To help mitigate the transmission of COVID-19, we are eliminating and/or reducing equipment in gymnasium activities. Equipment that is provided are larger items (pickleball nets, badminton poles, etc.) that are not easy for patrons to transport.
If you arrive to your gymnasium activity timeslot and have not brought equipment with you please speak with a Fitness Centre Supervisor. We can arrange to lend patrons equipment for the activity.
Parks, Recreation & Culture is following the Provincial Sport Organizations (PSO) Return to Sport Guidelines. These guidelines provide recommendations and best practices for returning to sport during COVID-19. For a full list of PSO Return to Sport Guidelines please visit their website.
Unfortunately, you cannot use the Fitness Center or the sport courts during your gymnasium timeslot. The Gymnasium activities are happening outside of sport court and Fitness Centre timeslots. Click here for information on Fitness Centre timeslots or sport court timeslots.
When you register for a Gymnasium timeslot, you will have access to:
To reduce the amount of high touch points and gathering places, our team has reduced the amenities that patrons historically have had access to. Patrons will not be able to use the lockers, change rooms, showers, water fountains and water bottle refill station, fitness centre, sport courts or aquatics facility.
If you notice another gymnasium user who is not following physical distancing rules or who may be displaying symptoms of COVID-19, please notify a Fitness Centre Supervisor or a Customer Experience staff.
If a patron is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, staff will ask that they do not enter the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre and self-isolate for the recommended 14 days. A note will be made on the users account and they will be unable to register for any Fitness Centre timeslots until their self-isolation is over.
The City will support Public Health in communicating community transmission occurrences.
If you have a Leisure Access Pass and would like to register for a Gymnasium timeslot, you must call the registration line to register by phone at 604-467-7422.
Support workers of Leisure Access Pass holders are required to pay the admission fee prior to their registered timeslot. Both pass holder and support worker will be added to the timeslot.
Yes. To avoid losing your deposit, cancellations can be done through email 24 hours prior to your scheduled timeslot.
Family Drop In is an opportunity for families to come to the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre and recreate. There will be limited equipment provided. To mitigate the risk of COVID-19, PRC staff encourage you to bring your own equipment. Each member of the family must register and pay admission.
