Fire Hall No. 4/Training Centre and Park Project

Other Link Rezoning and Land Development information

Building Fire Hall No. 4 has been on the horizon for many years. Originally planned for construction in the early 2000's (before the considerable expansion of the Albion area took place), the project was put on hold. Over the last several years, the population in the Albion area has increased significantly and with it, the call volume has increased accordingly. In 2016, this translated to about 14% of the total number of calls (including 22% of structure fire calls). Now exceeding 600 calls per year for service, we are actively moving forward with the Fire Hall No. 4 project.

Update - May 2019
Maple Ridge Fire Hall No. 4 and Training Ground construction is well under way! Construction began in December 2018, and while our soggy winter did not help to make early progress, we have now moved into great weather for construction and the project is starting to take shape.

Foundation for the main building has been completed and earth work/site grading required for the training ground is moving ahead. Structural steel and wood components have been delivered to the site and construction crews have begun erecting those elements. The project is on schedule for completion in March 2020. Have a look at the time lapse video and watch 5 months of progress in 60 seconds!

Maple Ridge Council approved this project in 2018 recognizing that Fire Hall No. 4 & Training Ground will serve the immediate and future public safety needs of our growing City. Located within the Albion neighborhood, it will serve the immediate area and will support fire department service delivery throughout the City. Included within the project is a training ground, equipped to train both new recruits and maintain the skills of our existing fire fighters.

With the upcoming opening of Fire Hall No. 4 in March 2020, the fire department will be looking to recruit paid-on-call firefighters beginning in the fall of 2019. If you have and interest in serving your community, or know someone who does, stay tuned for job postings in the near future!

If you have any questions about this exciting project, please contact Deputy Chief Michael Van Dop at 604-463-5880 or mvandop@mapleridge.ca.
