Through a partnership with the
Ridge Meadows Recycling Society, the Workplace Recycling Program helps staff divert garbage from the waste stream by providing recycling stations for plastics, beverage containers, cardboard, paper, batteries and cell phones. Collection stations are located throughout the City buildings to encourage staff participation.
An onsite composting program minimizes the green waste headed to the landfill. Compost bins are located in lunchrooms, collected and then added to large composting bins. The composting bins were made by students at Pitt Meadows Senior Secondary and are constructed with local cedar. The compost is mixed with soil and used in the flower beds at Memorial Peace Park.
