The City is planning to replace the watermain and re-line the sanitary sewer on Dewdney Trunk Road (Dewdney) from 216 Street to 222 Street. The work generally consists of installation of approximately 1380m of ductile iron (DI) watermain, 980m of sanitary sewer re-lining, reconnection of existing service connections, installation of new fire hydrants, installation of fibre optic ducting on the existing watermain and surface restorations.
Sandpiper Contracting LLP has been awarded the contract and construction will start mid-August. The hours of work will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday and occasionally on Saturday as necessary.
In order to accommodate rush-hour traffic, Dewdney Trunk Road will maintain two westbound travel lanes from 7:00 am to 9:00 am (with one eastbound lane), and two eastbound lanes from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (with one westbound lane). All travel lanes will be reinstated after working hours.
Every effort will be made to provide advance notice to area residents for the schedule of water and sanitary sewer service interruption for reconnection to minimize the inconvenience.
