The dynamic duo of Danielle Marie, 2015 CCMA Spotlight artist and Ray McAuley Horizon Award winner, and Jordan Pritchett, guitarist of Juno nominated band, Faber Drive are making waves in country music. They have garnered attention in the industry and performed with the likes of Country hall of famer Terri Clarke and released a Christmas single with Jordan’s dad, Aaron Pritchett.

Me and Mae


Me and Mae, have forged a reputation as the band to watch on the Canadian country music scene with the single, “Love Me Leave Me Lonely,” which Meehan co-wrote with Carly Rae Jepsen, and opened the barn doors for the band to more audiences and opportunities. The band was nominated for Top Country Best New Artist (2014) and won the BC Country Music Awards – Ray McAuley Horizon Award (2014).

Ava Schreiber


Music has always been very important and influential to Avalon’s life. It helped her to gain confidence and cope with anxiety while pursuing her passion. Avalon enjoys performing and has done a variety of shows including the Maple Ridge Youth Talent Show since 2013. Avalon’s musical influences include Nirvana, David Bowie and Grimes. She started writing songs in her early teens and currently records a variety of originals and cover songs.

Shawn Farquhar


Shawn Farquhar is a Two-Time World Champion of magic and has appeared on TV shows including Ellen, Masters of Illusion and Fool Us, where he became the first magician to fool Penn & Teller twice on their hit show.  His magic can be seen on Hulu, Netflix and YouTube where many of his videos have been viewed millions of times and has performed in more than forty countries and onboard for Disney Cruise Line.  Most recently he opened his own boutique speakeasy style showroom, Hidden Wonders, in historic Chinatown in Vancouver. He lives in Maple Ridge and has prepared a Canada Day special.

Paul Tavai-Latta Polynesian Dancers


Celebrating 50 years this fall, The Paul Tavai-Latta Polynesian Dancers & Co of Canada thrives under the direction of Master Kumu Hula / Ra’atira dance and culture specialist:  Paul Ma’e Ma’e kapua O Kahala Tavai-Latta. A respected educator of Ma’ohi (Polynesian) studies in Canada, Paul specializes in Indigenous traditional & contemporary dance, music, costume, art, culture, history, geography & live stage performance of all Polynesia.  Dedicated to preserving and perpetuating the Polynesian culture, Paul brings the South Pacific to life in all his teaching and performances locally, nationally and internationally with spirit and artistry.  Mahalo!

Maple Ridge Dance Circle


Maple Ridge Dance Circle is located in the heart of Maple Ridge and offers a variety of dance genres to students ages 2 ½ through seniors with qualified and experienced teachers. We are excited about celebrating our 30th Anniversary season beginning in September of 2020. We have taught thousands of students and now have the pleasure of teaching the children and grandchildren of some of our first students! We are happy to contribute to today’s virtual Canada Day Celebration with dances choreographed by Susan Mitchell, Artistic Director (Welcome to the 60’s), Rachel Allan, Associate Artistic Director (Best Life, Get Busy, Sisters, Honky Cat), and Julya Hughes, Street Dance teacher (Missy Mega-Mix).

Drum Creation with the Ridge Meadows Recycling Society


Ridge Meadows Recycling Society is a community-based, non-profit organization that works in partnership with the City of Maple Ridge to provide responsible waste reduction services, environmental education, and inclusive work opportunities to the community.

Leanne Koehn is a powerhouse who does Community Engagement for RMRS, organizes local Earth Day celebrations, and founded Maple Ridge Repair Cafes.  Dan Mikolay is RMRS’s Environmental Educator and a rock star to local schoolchildren.

Story Time with the Fraser Valley Regional Library – Maple Ridge Branch


Established in 1930, FVRL was the first of its kind in North America. Today it is the largest public library system in British Columbia, with 25 community libraries serving over 700,000 people in its service area.

Liza Morris is the Community Librarian at Maple Ridge Public Library and has worked for FVRL since 2007. She passionate about community engagement, travel and books (of course). Sally Gwyn is a Library Technician for Maple Ridge Public Library and has worked for FVRL since 2007. She is passionate about Reader’s Advisory, Hiking, Books and is a novice knitter.

Canada Day Art with Laura Johnson


Laura Johnson is a local artist raised in Maple Ridge. She has been active in the art community for over twenty years and a passionate about sharing her gift with others through teaching and her artwork. Laura takes great pride and pleasure in revitalizing public spaces and breathing new life into side streets and laneways.  She can be found in the Lower Mainland wherever a large wall needs beautifying with a mural or at the ACT Arts Center teaching art.
