The City installed Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) at two crosswalks along 228 Street at the following locations:
•228 Street and 119 Avenue
•228 Street and Selkirk Avenue (entrance to the mall)
RRFBs are user-actuated amber LEDs that supplement warning signs at crosswalks or mid-block crosswalks. They are activated by pedestrians, manually by a push-button. RRFBs use an irregular flash pattern that is similar to emergency flashers on police vehicles.
The work generally consisted of installation of the RRFBs, audible pedestrian push-buttons, overhead internally lit crosswalk signs with down lighting, underground electrical duct construction and surface restoration.
Construction is now complete, thank you for your patience during construction.
