About the Committee

The Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC) is involved in and supports projects aimed at promoting public awareness and protecting agricultural activities. The Committee is actively involved in the implementation of the Agricultural Plan (PDF) to support agriculture in the future.


The Agricultural Advisory Committee, established in June 2007, has been set up to advise Council on agricultural issues and to engage in activities to support the agricultural sector. The Committee works in collaboration with related agencies and organizations involved in the promotion of agriculture, the protection of farmland and the recognition of the need for food security.

Meetings

All regular meetings are open to the public. If you are interested in appearing at a meeting as a delegation please email the Committee Clerk. Please include in your email your presentation topic and the date you would like to appear.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, meetings will be held virtually until further notice.

Members 

The Agricultural Advisory Committee will consist of the following members:


Voting Members:

  • Council Liaison (or alternate)
  • Fraser North Farmers Market Society representative (or alternate)
  • Agricultural Fair Board representative (or alternate)
  • Four Members at Large, appointed by Council

Standing Invitation Members (non-voting):

  •  Ministry of Agriculture representative
  •  Agricultural Land Commission representative

Plans & Policies

The committee is developing action items and establishing priorities related to its long term goals. The business plan is structured as a three-year plan, in order to provide the committee, council and funding sources with a consistent set of responsibilities, anticipated projects and funding needs. The committee is involved in and supports community initiatives aimed at promoting public awareness and protecting agricultural activities. The committee is actively involved in the implementation of an Agricultural Plan to support agriculture in the future.
