    @

What's Cooking? As summer turns to autumn, Karen Curtis of KICS Lemonade prepares a fantastic seasonal salad with kale, apples, and cheese. Plus she marries early fall flavours from the garden with her very own lemonade as a last reminder of summer! Come to the Chef at the Market Tent to see how it's done and have a taste at 10:30 and noon! Haney welcomes The Travelling Dawg at the market this week. Rumours abound of tasty and healthy breakfast and lunch items! Come check them out! Fall produce is rolling in to market with the late summer items! Squash, tomatoes, zucchini, beets, carrots... Keep your eyes peeled for apples, with the last of the blackberries, and peaches too! Rory MacRury performs in the morning and Shannon Matter in the afternoon in the square. See you Saturday!

  2. Modern Legends Group First Nations Show

    September 23, 2017, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
    @
    The ACT Art Gallery

Contemporary First Nations artists, Sonny Assu, Corey Moraes, Carrielynn Victor, and Brandon Gabriel all feature an intriguing blend of traditional and contemporary storytelling in their artwork. In bridging modern attitudes with ancestral beliefs, their stories ensure that a provocative First Nations perspective is given voice within the myriad of Canada 150 celebrations taking place in 2017. Ensuring that ‘truth’ is recognized as the prelude to reconciliation, these artists render comic-book characters, super heroes, mythical beings and graffiti-inspired narratives as a critical and often humourous means of sharing both their personal and ancestral Modern Legends. Opening Reception Saturday, September 9th from 2:00 pm–4:00 pm Free Event Funding for this exhibition was provided in part by the Government of Canada with addition support from the City of Maple Ridge and the Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows News.
