The District of Maple Ridge is committed to protecting the privacy of any personal information you may provide when visiting our website. Part of that commitment is to explain what information may be collected and why, how it will be used and who may have access to it. Our practices have been designed to ensure compliance with the privacy provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 165, as amended.

This privacy statement applies solely to information collected on the District of Maple Ridge website. The following is an overview of our website practices.

General

When you visit the website, you are anonymous until you decide to identify yourself to the District. The website does not automatically collect or retain your email address in a database but some Internet Service Providers may automatically include your email address with your Internet Protocol ("IP") address. The District's website does log your IP address and may use "cookies" for the purposes of analyzing trends, administering the website, tracking website visitors' preferences and for gathering general demographic information. The logged IP address and/or "cookies" are not linked to any personally identifiable information.

If you choose to communicate with the District through these web pages, other than through the secure e-commerce processes where you have been provided with a unique identifier or password by the District, your communication becomes the property of the District. The District is not required to keep your communication confidential. The District can choose if, when and where it uses your communication and has no obligation to advise you of such use or to compensate you for such use. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

Secured Transactions

When the District receives your personal information through a secured environment, the District will only ask you for the personal information that it needs, such as your name, phone number, street or e-mail address, to provide you with the service you requested. Once received, the District will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized use and will not distribute it to any third party without your written consent, unless required to do so by law.

Information Collected through On-Line Forms

Personal Information on on-line forms is collected under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 165, as amended. Unless otherwise specified on the form, the information gathered through on-line forms is solely for use by the District of Maple Ridge and will not be utilized for any commercial marketing purpose.
