Volunteering is truly the highest form of recreation and in Maple Ridge we believe that all volunteers play a significant role in creating a vibrant community that engages and involves citizens of all ages and walks of life. If you are looking for a new and exciting volunteer position in Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows come to the Volunteer Information Session [PDF, 94 KB] hosted by Parks and Leisure Services on April 18. The information session will be held at the Pitt Meadows Library (12099 Harris Road, Pitt Meadows) from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Local event organizers and representatives from some local non-profit organizations will be in attendance to talk about volunteer opportunities within their organization or committee. Emergency Services

Dedicated, on-call volunteers are needed to assist people in the event of an emergency, to run Crime Prevention programs, or to learn survival, map and compass, search techniques, rope rescue, and swift water rescue skills.

National Volunteer Week

The third week in April is set aside each year as an opportunity to celebrate the outstand contributions of the volunteers who promote positive change in our communities. Volunteers, through identifying and responding to the community's needs, realize invaluable goals.

Join the Volunteer Centre on Sunday April 21, 2013 at Red Robin (22701 Lougheed Highway, Maple Ridge) at 9:00am for their 4th Annual Volunteer Appreciation Free Pancake Breakfast [PDF, 250KB]. The breakfast is open to all volunteers in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. For more information or to reserve a seat contact Ashley Singh at asingh@comservice.bc.ca or at 604-467-6911 ext. 230.

On Tuesday April 23, 2013 from 7:00pm-9:00pm youth volunteers are invited to the annual Free Youth Yogurt Parfait Event at the Greg Moore Youth Centre and the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre Youth Lounge.

On Wednesday April 24, 2013 the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre and the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre will be offering free drop-in from open until close for volunteers and a friend. From 6:00pm-8:00pm there will be a Hawaiian Themed Pool Party at the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre.
