topOpen House - Nov 7, 2007
A public Open House was held November 7, 2007 at the South Lillooet Centre for residents and businesses to confirm the issues and provide input to the potential options that the Task Force has identified. At the Open House, Ken Stewart the Task Force Chair, provided an Overview [PDF, 192KB] of the purpose of the Task Force, the process, and issues identified to date. Issues and potential options were displayed at the Open House View the posters [PDF, 412KB]. The comments [PDF, 102KB] resulting from the Open House have been compiled.

A final Open House was held February 20, 2008 for the public to provide input to the recommendations of the Task Force View the presentation [PDF, 608KB]. The comments [PDF, 24KB] from the Open House have been compiled. Dian Murrell presented a proposed callout system [PDF, 178KB].

A history of major Alouette River flood events is being compiled. At this time, the only flood events that are documented are in 1980 and 1995. "Impacts of the 1995 Alouette Flood" - Dr. Russell, UBC, is available at the Alouette River Management Society.
Residents are encouraged to share their knowledge of flood event history and relative information by contacting the Engineering Department at eng_enq@mapleridge.ca.

Workshops
April 4, 2009
The goal of the April 4, 2009 Workshop was to provide information on the North and South Alouette Rivers to the public and residents of the area. A number of presentations were made by District staff, agencies and non-governmental organizations. These included presentations by Fisheries and Oceans [PDF, 2MB], UBC Malcolm Knapp Research Forest [PDF, 11MB] and BC Hydro [PDF, 2MB]. Bruce Hobbs and Rosemary Webster outlined the new River Gauge Webcams [PDF, 3MB] on the river (for real time data, see topics of interest - River Gauges - Real-Time Readings on this page). The Alouette River Management Society also provided additional information on the society's activities. As well, District staff provided information on the History of the Alouette Rivers [PDF, 426KB], Emergency Social Services [PDF, 2MB], Emergency Preparedness [PDF, 306KB], how residents can Report a Concern [PDF, 51KB] if they are experiencing problems, as well as District policies and bylaws related to Floodplain Management and Requirements [PDF, 165KB] for alterations to land along the river. A Handout [PDF, 291KB] was also made available on the floodplain bylaws and building requirements.
