HERITAGE CONTEXT STUDY - What do you value about Maple Ridge?
Public workshops #1 and #2 were held on October 28 and November 25, respectively. Community members provided input on what they value about Maple Ridge and worked on the attached thematic framework [PDF 300KB]. All members of the community are invited to continue providing input into the probject by completing the attached community questionnaire [PDF, 148KB] and/or providing comments on the thematic framework. The Community Heritage Commission (CHC) advises Municipal Council on matters relating to heritage conservation. Past and current projects include the Heritage "Walkabouts," restoration of the Wharfingers Office at Port Haney Wharf in conjunction with the Historical Society, preparation of the Heritage Strategy and participation in the OCP Review. Recent projects include the Heritage Management Plan, and establishment of a community heritage register.
The Commission is made up of
- one member from Council
- two members from among the persons nominated by Maple Ridge Historical Society
- members from the Community-at-Large appointed by the Mayor & Council.
Current members include:
Councillor Craig Speirs as Council Liaison, Community at Large Members Sheila Nickols, Sarah Hossack, Helmi Braches, Jacqueline Mulcahy, Nicole Read, and Michael Cook. Lynne Probyn and Brenda Smith are appointed to the Commission by the Maple Ridge Historical Society. Lisa Zosiak from the Planning Department is the Staff Liaison.
