Heritage Networking Conference
You are invited to attend a Heritage Networking Conference hosted by Maple Ridge Community Heritage Commission and sponsored by Heritage BC. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 30th at the Maple Ridge Council Chambers and the registration fee is $25.00. See program information here [PDF, 265KB]
Everyone who is interested in heritage and particularly what is happening in Maple Ridge is encouraged to attend. Please share this invite with your family and friends.
A lunch is included with the registration fee and will be provided by "Big Feast Bistro & Catering". Local musician, Steve Ranta, will be playing piano during the lunch break.
A dinner event is also planned at the Billy Miner Pub (not included in registration fee), where the Whiskey Minstrals band (Bruce Coughlan and Nolan Murray) will be playing.

Heritage Plan Public Open House
A public open house was held on June 13, 2013 to present the Heritage Plan process, framework, and proposed actions for inclusion in the Plan. If you were unable to attend, you may still view the open house presentation boards[PDF, 384KB].
The Heritage Plan is intended to guide the work plan of the CHC over the next five to ten years. The CHC has been receiving public input into the Plan since February 2013 through a questionnaire distributed through various forms of online social media and also handed out at community events. An update to the first questionnaire (which is now questionnaire #2) is available online (see link below). The final draft of the Heritage Plan is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2013.

The Community Heritage Commission (CHC) advises Municipal Council on matters relating to heritage conservation. Past and current projects include:
- Youth History Club
- Heritage Plaque Program
- A Heritage Community Networking Conference
The Commission is made up of
- one member from Council
- two members from among the persons nominated by Maple Ridge Historical Society
- members from the Community-at-Large appointed by the Mayor & Council.
Current members include:
Councillor Michael Morden as Council Liaison. Faye Isaac and Brenda Smith (Vice Chair) are appointed to the Commission by the Maple Ridge Historical Society. Community at Large members are Michael Cook, Craig Speirs (Chair), Cyndy Johnson-McCormick, Wayne Beck, Steve Ranta and Michael Joseph Robinsmith. Lisa Zosiak from the Planning Department is the Staff Liaison.
