Bicycle Advisory Committee

The Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Bicycle Advisory Committee, established by the Municipal Councils, began meeting in September of 1997. The purpose of the Committee is to advise the Councils on cycling issues in the communities and implementation of the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Bikeways Plan.

The Committee is comprised of 8 (volunteer) members as follows:

• One Councillor from the District of Maple Ridge who has an interest in cycling;
• One Councillor from the City of Pitt Meadows who has an interest in cycling;
• One representative from the Vancouver Association Cycling Coalition (VACC);
• Three members at large who reside in Maple Ridge;
• Two members at large who reside in Pitt Meadows.

The Councillors are appointed annually by their respective Mayors.  The representative from the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition representative is appointed for a two-year term by VACC.  The Members at Large are appointed by their respective Councils after receipt of applications following  newspaper advertisements indicating available positions.  The applicants should have an interest in cycling.   If you wish to be considered for a position on this Committee, please submit an application form.

Other members who may attend Committee meetings, to provide opinions, advice or information or other services to the Committee, but who are not Members are:

a) the Mayor of the City of Pitt Meadows or the District of Maple Ridge;
b) the Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Pitt Meadows or the District of Maple Ridge, or his/her designate;
c) staff from the City of Pitt Meadows or the District of Maple Ridge

Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month, alternating between the Municipal Hall in Maple Ridge and the City Hall in Pitt Meadows.  The public is welcome to observe the meetings and may seek clarification to questions during the "Public Questions and Answers"  item on the Agenda.
