The Maple Ridge Fire Department Charities Committee began their fundraising efforts in 2002.  The firefighters hold four major events each year.

CARES ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK

Maple Ridge Fire Department is proud to be a part of the "Cares Enough to Wear Pink" campaign. Every October, you may notice something different about our Maple Ridge Firefighters. In an effort to support patients and their families impacted by breast cancer, Maple Ridge Firefighters IAFF Local 4449 join an international emergency responder campaign "Cares Enough to Wear Pink". These community first responders exchange their regular duty shirt for pink t-shirts to help raise breast cancer awareness in a campaign to honour those fighting cancer.

FIREFIGHTERS FOR FAMILIES FOOD DRIVE

Every December firefighters and members of the Youth Academy spend the day outside each of the major grocery stores in Maple Ridge and collect food and cash in support of the Friends In Need Food Bank and the Christmas Hamper Society.

CAR WASH FOR THE BURN UNIT

The Summer car wash supports the Burn Unit at Vancouver General Hospital and Children's Hospital. Firefighters wash 300 - 500 vehicles each year at this event in a local parking lot which is converted into a "drive through" car wash.

DINNER AUCTIONED AT HOSPITAL GALA

Since 2010, Maple Ridge Firefighters have provided a catered dinner as an auction item at the annual Ridge Meadows Hospital Gala. The dinner, complete with wine is cooked and served by firefighters at the winning bidders home. Bidding for this auction item continues to be competitive. View this year's gala photos here.

BOOT DRIVE FOR MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY

Firefighters in Canada have supported Muscular Dystrophy since 1954 with various fundraising efforts. The Boot Drive is a nationally recognized event held each fall.  For the second year in a row, the Maple Ridge Fire Department was at Save-on-Foods and Coopers on Saturday, September 29, 2012 bagging groceries, providing information on muscular dystrophy and accepting donations to support muscular dystrophy.  This year $6,300.00 was raised.

HEAD SHAVE FOR CANCER 2003-2006, 2009

All of the emergency services in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows work together on this event during the annual Home Show in May. Members of the Maple Ridge Fire Department, Pitt Meadows Fire Department, RCMP, Ridge-Meadows Search and Rescue and BC Ambulance Service obtain sponsorship to shave their heads. Visitors to the Home Show also make donations, bid on spectacular raffle items and also have the opportunity to have their head shaved for a cash donation.
