As properties are built, renovated, bought and sold in your neighbourhood BC Assessment updates their database. This neighbourhood activity can have impact on the assessed value of your home even though you haven’t made any changes to your property. The value of properties varies by neighbourhood and by property type. It is a good idea to educate yourself on what the assessment means.
If you think that your 2016 Property Assessment is incorrect you need to file an appeal by January 31, 2016. Information on your assessment, the appeal process and tools to look at the value of properties in your neighbourhood can be found at bcassessment.ca.
If you are interested in getting more information on the proposed budget for the City for 2016, there is a direct link on the City home page at mapleridge.ca titled ‘Provide Your Feedback 2016-2020 Financial Plan.’ This link will take you to all the information – the detailed Financial Plan, the Financial Overview Report, the video of the Q&A held on Thursday, December 3, 2015 and the detailed presentations made on December 1, 2 and 3, 2015.
